Welcome to Benjarong Thai Cuisine

Benjarong, the royal porcelain of Thailand, wears the grace of Thai culture through each carefully placed brushstroke. In the early Rattanakosin period, Benjarong porcelain items were highly prized and used only in the Royal household and upper class Thai families.

Benjarong, meaning 'five colours', was originally made in China, hand crafted from clay, fired in charcoal ovens and finished in fine gold plating. Each piece consists of hand-applied, real gold masks laid over the white ceramic, enabling the artist to produce a tactile, detailed Thai pattern around the gold, using at least five colours.

As well our food is delicate, interesting, adventurous and above all, delicous.

The walls at Benjarong, (‘the best Thai restaurant on town’ as we’ve been told by satisfied diners,) are hung with hand made golden embroidered banners, everywhere you look is beauty…and excellence – even the crockery and condiment sets are handpainted in the traditional five different colours of Thai (Benjarong) pottery, traced in gold.

Dining at Benjarong is a joyous adventure/exploration into flavour and texture – Seafood mixed with lemongrass mushrooms and hint of chilli is Tom Yum Talay for example. It’s one of benjarong’s Tom–Yum soups.

There’s Pla Muek Yad Sai – an exciting combination of squid, prawn meat, pork, fish fresh herbs, chillies and garlic. Deep fried and served on a sizzling platter. It’s a chef’s speciality, and easy to see why. There’s Gai Ob Pu Kao Fai – described as Volcano sizzling whole chicken marinaded with Thai herbs, served with sweet chilli sauce which is a spectacular and often requested special.

The menu covers entrees and appetisers, Tom-Yum Soups, Mains, Curries, Seafood selection, Thai Salads, vegetarian selection, rice selection, noodle selection, a dessert selection and a full bar.

The lunch menu is available from 11.30 – 2.30 pm. Dinner from 5.00 – 10 pm. We also have a Set Menu. And the restaurant is fully licensed and offers B.Y.O. wine only. A Take Away Menu is also available.
