Sacred Hill (Hawkes Bay) 2007 $6½ $33
Lifted peach, citrus and vanilla aroma. Very complex and inviting. Complex and richly satisfying palate with classic “peaches and cream” Hawkes Bay Chardonnay Palate. Ripe stone fruit flavours with a creamy textured palate and excellent length with citrus nuances.
Fairhall Downs (Marlborough) 2006 $40
A stunning single vineyard Chardonnay from Marlborough which beautifully showcases the pure incisive fruit flavours, rich stone fruit and butterscotch characters with a soft round palate and subtle use of oak. Big and bold this is easily the best Fairhall Downs Chardonnay to date. Liquorland top 100 Gold Medal winner.

A complex wine showing a blend of citrus and tropical characters. A balanced and generously flavoured wine displaying lovely pineapple and melon flavours enhanced by mineral nuances and a limey freshness showing elegance and grace.
Whitehaven (Marlborough) 2007 $36
NZ International Wine Show Gold Medal. 5 Stars Cuisine
Light straw, with lemon-lime tones. Vibrant currant and gooseberry aromas, some pungent herbaceous nuances, and a hint of ripe citrus. A full flavoured medium bodied wine, with an abundance of currant and gooseberry flavours and a clean lingering finish.

 

RIESLING

Rockburn Parkburn Riesling 2006 $7½ $36
Nectarines and mandarins dominated the intensely fruity nose of this wine in its youth. The palette is filled with the same concentration of citrus with hints of pineapple and peaches. The excellent balance of this wine is brought to completion by a long and cleansing finish.

 

GEWURTZIRAMINER

The 2007 Gewurztraminer is very much a rich spice, with rose petal, lychee and a hint of ginger in the bouquet. Spicy tones hug the mid palate and really delivers, this dry style of Gewurztraminer will surpass all expectations.

A dry but rich style, with complex characters coming from the vineyard site and traditional winemaking techniques.

Crisp flavourful New Zealand chardonnay and pinot noir give Lindauer the intensity for which this wine is acclaimed.

 

SHIRAZ

Katnook Founders Block (Coonawarra) Shiraz 2005 $7½ $36
Appealing raspberry, pepper and spicy fruit highlight the nose. Hints of sweet vanilla oak add complexity to fruit and mellow barrel maturation characters. Warm generous structure with lingering fruit flavours and fine tannins add to the long smooth palate.

 

CABERNAT SAUVIGNON

De Bortoli Vat 9 Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 $7 $32
A fragrant plum and blackcurrant nose with hints of mint and subtle cedar/vanillin oak aromas. A good balance on the palate between sweet fruit, soft tannins and cedar/vanillin oak.
Taltarni Pyrenees 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon $49
Deep magenta colour and a combination of cassis and cigar box on the nose with smoky vanillin. The palate displays classic varietal characters of blackcurrant wrapped up fine tannins and a lasting palate, complimented by subtle French oak.

 

MERLOT

Katnook Founders Block (Coonawarra) Merlot 2005 $7½ $36
Bright expressive red currant, cherry and earthy notes combine with smoky/coffee oak. A medium bodied palate with plush mouth feel and extended finish.

 

PINOT NOIR

Sacred Hill Wine Thief (Central Otago) 2006 $7½ $36
Fragrant aroma with black cherry, thyme and wild strawberry. Complex layered and rich palate with brambly black cherrystone flavours. Seamless structure with excellent length.
TripleBank Awatree Valley 2007 $40
Bright berry fruit characters so prized in this variety along with dried herb clove and cinnamon aromas and an earthy palate with silky tannins.
